Summer Glen Design is a Sioux City, Iowa-based interior design studio specializing in full-service residential interior design, new construction, remodels and renovations, and furnishing projects. We serve clients in Sioux City, Dakota Dunes, and throughout the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota tri-state area, as well as select projects nationwide.
Depending on the scope of your project, our services may include space planning, cabinetry and millwork design, finish and fixture selections, lighting, furniture, textiles, window treatments, art, accessories, custom furnishings, and styling. For new construction and remodeling projects, we can also work alongside your builder, architect, contractors, and trades to help carry the design vision from the early planning stages through completion.
Rather than designing around a fixed signature style, we look at the full picture: how you live, what you notice, what you value, and what you want your home to feel like. From there, we create a design that feels intentional, refined, and personal to you.

Summer Glen Design is a Sioux City, Iowa-based interior design studio serving clients in Sioux City, Iowa; Dakota Dunes, South Dakota; and throughout the Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota tri-state area, as well as select projects nationwide.
We provide full-service interior design for new construction, remodels and renovations, furnishing projects, and whole-home transformations. While many of our projects are located in and around Sioux City and Dakota Dunes, we welcome the opportunity to work with clients beyond the tri-state area when the project is a good fit. (Availability depends on the location, scope, and level of involvement required.)
Whether you are building a home, planning a significant remodel, or furnishing an existing space, we recommend reaching out early so we can learn more about your project, location, and goals.
-
Every project is different, and design fees depend on the size, complexity, and scope of your project.
Interior design consultations with Summer Glen Design begin at $150 per hour. Full-service interior design begins at $2,500 per room, with final design fees determined by the scope and needs of the project. Furnishings, materials, construction costs, freight, delivery, installation, and other project expenses are separate from design fees.
Before beginning a full-service project, we'll discuss your goals, priorities, scope, and anticipated investment so you have a clear understanding of the services we're recommending.
We believe those conversations are most helpful when they happen early. A realistic budget gives us the ability to recommend where to invest, where to simplify, and how to make the strongest overall design decisions.
-
The earlier, the better.
For new construction and major renovations, we recommend bringing Summer Glen Design into the project during the planning stage—ideally before plans and major selections are finalized.
Furniture placement can affect electrical locations. Cabinetry can affect lighting. Flooring, tile, plumbing, millwork, and architectural details all influence one another. When those decisions are considered early, the finished home tends to feel more resolved and there are fewer surprises later.
Summer Glen Design can collaborate with your builder, architect, contractor, and trades throughout the process, helping make sure design decisions are made in the right sequence and with the finished home in mind.
If you know you will want a designer involved, reaching out before construction begins is almost always worthwhile.
-
Full-service interior design is for clients who want a designer involved in both the big-picture decisions and the details that make a home feel finished.
Depending on the project, Summer Glen Design may guide decisions involving layouts, cabinetry, flooring, tile, countertops, plumbing fixtures, lighting, paint, wall treatments, furniture, textiles, window treatments, art, accessories, and custom furnishings.
For new construction and remodels, we can also coordinate design decisions with the professionals responsible for building the home. That allows the architecture, finishes, lighting, furnishings, and final details to be considered together instead of as separate layers.
The result is a home that feels cohesive and well thought out, with each decision supporting the overall design.
-
Yes. In fact, collaboration is an important part of our full-service approach to new construction and remodeling projects.
Summer Glen Design works alongside builders, architects, contractors, cabinetmakers, and other trades to help connect construction decisions with the overall interior design vision.
We provide guidance on cabinetry, lighting, finishes, fixtures, materials, furniture layouts, and other design details while your construction team handles the technical execution.
Each professional brings a different area of expertise to the project. Our role is to advocate for the interior experience of the home and help make sure the decisions being made during construction support the way the finished spaces will look, function, and feel.
-
Every project starts with listening.
Before we begin making selections, we want to understand how you use your home, what you want to change, what you are drawn to, and what matters most to you. We also consider the architecture, surroundings, existing pieces, project scope, and budget.
From there, we develop the design direction and begin working through the decisions that support it. Depending on the project, that may include layouts, cabinetry, finishes, fixtures, lighting, furniture, textiles, art, accessories, and custom details.
For full-service projects, we remain involved as the design moves from ideas and selections into purchasing, construction, furnishing, and installation.
Our process is designed to give each decision context. Rather than choosing one item at a time, we keep the entire home in view so the final result feels connected from room to room.
-
Project timelines vary depending on the scope of the work.
A furnishing project may take several months, while a large renovation or new construction project may extend for a year or longer. Construction schedules, custom work, product availability, freight, installation, and the number of decisions involved can all affect timing.
We establish expectations at the beginning of the project and identify the design decisions that need to happen first, particularly when they affect construction.
Good design benefits from enough time to make decisions thoughtfully, source the right pieces, and respond to the project as it develops. If you are planning a remodel or new home, beginning the design process early gives you more options and more flexibility.
-
No. In fact, many clients come to us without a clear name for their style.
You may know that you want your home to feel warmer, lighter, calmer, more interesting, or more finished. You may have saved images you love without knowing exactly why you love them. That is enough to begin.
Part of the design process is identifying the patterns in what you respond to—whether that is a certain use of color, contrast, materials, architecture, art, or atmosphere—and turning those instincts into a clear direction for your home.
We do not believe a home needs to fit neatly into one design label. It should feel like it belongs to you.
-
No—and that's intentional.
Summer Glen Design brings a consistent level of thought, proportion, detail, and editing to every project, but the outcome is shaped by your home, your lifestyle, your tastes, your collections, and the way you want to live.
Some clients are drawn to quiet, restrained interiors. Others want more color, pattern, contrast, or character. Our role is to recognize what feels right for you and develop it into something cohesive and lasting.
The goal is not to create a recognizable “Summer Glen look.” The goal is to create a home that feels unmistakably yours.
